Social Media and NPOs: Don't Be a Social Outcast!!

A recent national survey by the Pew Research Center's internet & American Life Project shows that the internet plays an important part in what we do. Currently, 75% of all American adults are active in volunteer organizations. And, those who use the internet are more likely to be involved than those who don't. In fact, 80% of internet users participate in groups. However, only 56% of non-internet users are involved. More impressive is that social media users are even more likely to be active: 82% of social network users and 85% of Twitter users volunteer in some fashion.

Research tells us that this is the audience to reach. This presentation will introduce you to the world of social networking. We'll investigate how nonprofits use social networking effectively. We'll look at different networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The session is hands-on. You'll have the opportunity to explore some sites. Joining in is up to you!

Presenter: Linda Sweeting

Session 1: 9 am- 11:30am (This session will include the business meeting)

Session 2: 1 - 2:30pm (This session will only be arranged if the first session is full)

To register, e-mail Terry Lehr, lehr@mowcm.org**
