Susan J Ellis' site, "especially for leaders of volunteer". Includes a

E-Volunteerism
Mentioned in the cover letter for our membership application, this is
"the electronic journal of the volunteer community" edited by Susan J
Ellis and Steve McCurley. Articles, discussion groups, etc. in the field of
volunteer management. You can preview articles for free, but paid
membership/subscription and log-in is required to fully access all
articles. You can also purchase articles individually.
Volunteer Central
Volunteer Central is a dynamic nonprofit that
links volunteer resources with community needs in the greater Baltimore
region. Programs include the Hands On Program of monthly volunteering
projects; information and referral services for 300+ community agencies;
corporate volunteering; youth initiatives; and special events including
Volunteer Central Make A Difference Day and National Youth
Service Day. Volunteer Central is both a CityCares affiliate, and a
member of the Points of Light Foundation National Volunteer Center
Network.
Governor's Office on Service
and Volunteerism
The Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism
(GOSV) supports and promotes volunteer service efforts that engage all
Marylanders to strengthen their communities. Through the combined
efforts of traditional volunteerism, AmeriCorps, and Maryland's Promise,
the GOSV is providing solutions to Maryland's most pressing needs in the
areas of education, public safety, health and the environment.
Service Leader's Virtual Volunteering Project
Provides information about Virtual Volunteering. This is an exciting new
concept and Energize, Inc. is working with the project to document what we are learning
about how to manage volunteers at a distance. Virtual volunteering is volunteer work
done by real people, but in cyberspace. For example, volunteers provide technical
assistance via e-mail or use cyber technology to tutor students or visit the
homebound.
Volunteer Today
Managed by volunteerism consultant Nancy Macduff, this site is an electronic
gazette for volunteerism. Particularly helpful is the current news in the field and
a calendar of events.
Points of Light
Points of Light Foundation's mission is to engage more people effectively in volunteer
community service to help solve serious social problems.
National Association of Volunteer Programs in Local Government (NAVPLG)
An association of administrators, coordinators and directors of volunteer programs in
local governments. Its purpose is to strengthen volunteer programs in local government
through leadership, advocacy, networking and information exchange.
Volunteer Maryland!
Volunteer Maryland partners with nonprofit agencies to create or expand volunteer programs that meet
critical needs in the areas of education, human service, public safety, homeland security, and the environment. Volunteer
Maryland establishes partnerships with nonprofits across the state to host volunteer coordinators, who are members of
AmeriCorps, for one year. The program also provides training and technical assistance on all aspects of volunteer management.
Volunteer Maryland is an AmeriCorps program of the Governor's Office.
